Republic- a gov't that puts the power into the peoples hands and allows them to vote for their leaders.
Patrician- wealthy land owners who had most of the power
Plebeian- the common people who made up most of the population
Tribune- people who were voted on that protected the rights of the common people
Consul- king like people that directed the army and the gov't
Senate-aristocratic branch of the gov't
Dictator- a leader who had all the power to make laws and command the army
Legion- large military groups
Punic Wars- Rome and Carthage fighting
Hannibal- Carthagian general
