Socrates would question traditional culture because he grew up as a thinker. He grew up thinking of the possibilities of what can be. He didn't like democracy because all the people voting were highly uneducated and he thought voting was a skill. He also didn't like that anyone can step up to be the "manager of the boat'" and that the people in charge should be skilled. That is why he questioned the the state of democracy and also when against traditional culture and beliefs.

In the video it showed how Pericles' planed not turn out so well. Instead a plague hit his city and it showed the weakness of Athenian democracy. When Pericles died there was no leader to step up and that was the main weakness in the democracy because there was not like Vice President/ tyrant.
